Revive the internet

Can we revive the internet? According to the dead internet theory, websites are full of bots that interact and publish content, and the fact that there are currently more bots than real people is concerning. It’s time to start a campaign against internet bots, supporting new content creators with their own essence, trying to have more real and natural interactions across the internet, and stopping the support of accounts that upload the same trash content online. This way, we can make the internet feel like it did 20 years ago.

the social media with the most bots (nowadays) is twitter(and discord with the dm spam ones), so i dont think u can do much about it since elon seems to like the alt-right bots spamming his website with bigotry.
but a mass report bots movement would be a good idea, just tricky to do/manage.

Sooo I heard that our current understanding of AI is actually 15 years behind the sort of AI tech that actually exists. They make it, and it takes 15 years to be available to us.

So if that's the case, would we even be able to spot some bots?

No. That's bunk. So-called "AI" is completely over-hyped. In fact they had smarter chatbots in 1968, that actually had a kind of actual intelligence. Companies could make huge advances in the field by going back. Oh, and it wouldn't burn the planet in the process, either.

think this has everything to do with how you're engaging with the internet. if you're basing it in spaces that are corporate, you're going to run into corporate behaviors.

social media is a space for people to congregate, like a town square, but like physical spaces, much of that has made it harder to find these third spaces we're used to that haven't been incorporated.

however, websites, forums, etc didn't go anywhere. instant messaging is still around; the internet that we're used to is still here. we're just not using it. so, my thoughts are if you want more of what it used to be, just use what's out there?

well people do be behaving like bots on those big platforms... but i don't think bots have taken over, yet. social medias are run by algorithms and if the algorithm doesn't like you you are put to the side and it's really hard to meet people and actually interact with anything. third spaces like Spacehey are still there and we should support them. i don't think the internet is dying but i do think social media is dying...

oh boy, how much i miss the early 2000s internet though T-T
