If I had to choose between just the two, then I would choose 1.21.4, as I see 1.0 as the basis for all modern versions, lacking in many QoL and content features. If I could choose others, then I would much prefer beta 1.7.3 or Indev 20100223, as they feel like completely different games to me, with their simplicity and all. 1.0 doesn't feel like the same kind of simplicity, but I could just be Golden Age brainwashed, LOL.
