I HATE CRINGE CULTURE AND THE TREND OF SHAMING PEOPLE

I've been thinking about this a lot, and I wanted to express my opinion about this since it's so frustrating. It's so frustrating to see people toning down their personality because other people decided it would be funny to shame them for expressing who they are. In middle school I was bullied too and I was forced to change my personal style just to try and give my bullies less reasons to make fun of me, and now that I've been embracing my personality I realise how awful it was to suppress my uniqueness just to stop a bunch of kids from making my life a living hell everyday at school. This trend of shaming people for being different and calling everything cringe is ruining the lives of many people that are afraid to stand up for themselves. I admit this behaviour rubbed off on me too but now I understand just how terrible it is. Honestly, calling ANY kind of interest or any attempt to try something new cringe is fucking cringe itself so I pray that this terrible mindset dies asap. In conclusion please do whatever the fuck you want, dress however you want and start doing whatever you want despite others opinion of you (of course being respectful of everyone around you), because it's better to live a life being called cringe by some immature dickhead that needs to shame others to uplift themselves than living in a life of regret because you chose to be like everyone else, bottling up your interests since they are considered something to be ashamed of. Please add anything you'd like to the discussion and share your personal experiences so that maybe someone that is scared to expres themselves can feel less alone!!

- english is not my first language so I apologise for any mystakes ^^

so real .. STORY TIME...

So 8th grade year of ms I was wearing a choker. Like the kind you would get at Claire's for ref.

This guy walks up to me STRAIGHT FACED, asks me if I need a leash...

I reply "No but I may need a restraining order?" and like glare at him. His whole friend group just starts violently barking at me... WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???
