this is gunna be how i personally cut my hair xDD so if u wanna see how mine looks ... check my pfp or my mall blog post !!! 

also this is mainly a post for scene hair, obvs from the title, but im sure u can use some of these tips if youre going for a more emo look .... probably ^^" the two are so similar lol

these tips are also mainly for straight / wavy hair, im not too knowledgeable on how to style curlier types of hair ^^" but ill try and link some resources at the end of the post for yall !!!! <3

FIRST THINGS FIRST !!!!

SUPER DEEP SIDE PART. if u want to get that nice fringe, u needdddddd a deep side part. u might have to play with it for a bit, it took me a while to find what worked for me. dont feel afraid to change the part every now n again, not only does it help keep volume with the roots, you might also find something that works better for you ^^ 

for me, my part goes into some sort of hook shape at the middle of my scalp. this is so that i can separate the part from the back of my hair, which makes it easier imo to keep up that volume & tease the back parts better 

hair is generally easier to part when it's wet, so this might be smth u'd want to practice with once u get out of the shower!! what i personally did is part my hair when it was dry w like. the edge of a scissor xD and then i cleaned it up and cemented that part by going over it again while it was wet. u might have to go over it multiple times!!! again like, what youre basically doing is training / teaching your hair where to go and how to fall. 

i once saw this post saying that hair styling is a lot like sculpting, and i completely agree!! pull and poke at your hair until it's falling exactly how you want it to ^^ 

AND NOW. ONTO THE CUT ITSELF:

SHORT LAYERS !!!!!!!

scene hair is typically cut with very VEEEERRYYYYY short layers at the top of your hair, thinned out w a razor in order to blend into the lower layers & to give that feathered look!! to add onto this, shorter layers are also a lot easier to tease. because the hair is so short, there's less weight dragging it down. typically youre going to be feathering your hair w a razor the whole way down, but you have to make sure to put emphasis on those top layers. also !! i find that teasing w a comb is a lottttt easier than teasing w a brush. dont ask me why, it just issss!!! but ofc everyones hair is different, so play around n figure out what works for you :DDDD 

OH ALSO!!!! HACK AT UR FRINGE W A RAZOR!!!!! be careful w this one though. what u typically want from ur fringe is like .. shorter pieces blending into the longer ones, so that u can kind of push it over and be like waow. my hair is falling like a circle. SO KEWL. but if u do too much u might make urself look kinda bald xD that's what i did at first ... BUT THEN I FIXED IT GUYS TRUSY ME IM NOT BALDING AHHHHH >,> anyuways. 

for the side of your hair that isn't the fringe but it's like... falling down, you want that to be separate from the rest of your layers as well. and you also want this to look feathered!!! have a few shorter pieces so that you can later straighten those forward n get THAT look. u know what i mean by THATTT look, ik u do. :P 

i personally dont do this much ... not only am i bad at it, i also kinda like the messy-ish straight down look it gives me. miaou  =(^._.^)=

HAIRSPRAY HAIRSPRAY HAIRSPRAY HAAAAAIIIIRRRRRSPRAAAAYYYYYYY

i promise you. i promise w all of my heart. HAIR SPRAY IS YOUR BEST FRIEND!!!! tease then hairspray. tease again, then hairspray again. tease AGAAAIIJNNNN and then hairspray AGAIN. if u want to get that big wig look!! i personally use got2b, they have STRONGGGGG shit that rly gets the job done. but if u want a softer look & dont want that CRUNCH that hairspray gives your hair, i recc using a volumizing powder !!! i have a bottle for when i dont feel like styling my hair much, but u can do some CRAAAZYYY looks w just the powder as well :P it's all abt method n dedication!! for the volume powder, i personally use sexyhair's big powder play ^^  it can make ur hair look thicker too, if thats what ur going for !! i have very thin hair so i love it sm hehe ..... sometimes i use it in conjunction w hairspray. ANYWAYS. 

Heh. Now for the fun part ...

BLOW DRYING & STRAIGHTENING!!!!!

i dont actually straighten my hair much. XDDDD POSER ERA but LISTENNNNNN. my hair's fried enough that its already straight ............... and im also lazy ......... plz guys ...... ._. 

but thats off topic. when youre blowdrying your hair, youre mainly going to want to blow all of your hair forward. basically just choose a spot on your head (not on the fringe side) and blowdry all of the hair away from that spot :P i'd also recc using a comb for this section, because when youre blowdrying your fringe it makes it easier to control where and what you're doing with it. what i personally do is, i brush the fringe down and then up while blowdrying, so that it has that nice flick to it. ykwim???  after this u can kinda like. go under / around your bang area and blowdry it up, to give your roots more lift !! n then w the rest of your hair, blowdry straight down ^^ idk if this is making sense it's hard to explain over text AHHA

after this you can go over any pieces sticking out / not laying right with a straightener!! to perfect that look you want. n then w the side pieces, you're gonna want to straighten them right towards your face. dw if it isnt perfect right away, go over it as many times as needed to make it right -- but be careful !! theyre short pieces, so theyre easier to burn ... and it's also prolly easier to burn ur fingers too :P
