Do You Still Remember Chat Rooms?

Chat rooms were so popular back then in 1990s and 2000s, I still remember the experience even though at that time I could only feel a little bit at the end of its popularity in the early 2010s. Somehow I still use some of the remaining chat rooms from 1990s and 2000s like Chat-Avenue or Paltalk.

I'm on IRC, but nowadays Matrix is more popular. Tried to get back into Jabber, too, with little success. And of course everyone's on Discord. But meh, asynchronous communication is better.

Yeah, chat rooms from the '90s and 2000s had a unique vibe that modern platforms just don’t capture. There was something special about the anonymity and the randomness of conversations back then. While a lot of those old-school chat sites have faded, there are still places that keep the spirit alive. If you're into AI-driven interactions, you might find this website interesting—it blends modern tech with that classic chatroom experience in a new way.
