baby v.o.x’s yayaya and my love for urban zakapa’s version

hi everyone! today, i wanted to share a little throwback to one of my favorite songs and its beautiful remake. if you’ve been around k-pop for a while, you probably know yayaya by baby v.o.x. it’s such a classic—catchy, nostalgic, and full of that late '90s/early 2000s energy we all love. but here’s the thing: while i adore the original, there’s a remake that completely stole my heart—urban zakapa’s version.

if you haven’t heard it, you’re missing out. urban zakapa took the upbeat pop vibe of the original and turned it into something soulful and emotional. their harmonies are perfection, and they gave yayaya this modern yet timeless feel that’s hard to describe. it’s one of those songs that makes you close your eyes and just feel.

now, here’s how i stumbled on it. anyone remember the k-drama hi! school love on? it was on the official soundtrack, and honestly, the whole album is worth listening to. the show itself is this sweet, supernatural teen drama, but the music really brought it to life. if you’re into OSTs, i can’t recommend it enough.

but back to remakes! yayaya is just one example of how a song can transform in the hands of different artists. do you guys have a favorite remake? maybe something you heard in a drama or a cover that surprised you?

if you haven’t already, give both the baby v.o.x and urban zakapa versions a listen and let me know what you think. i’m curious which one you prefer (or if you love both like me).
