soooo i have THOUGHTZ about the beepo. i decided 2 make this topic mainly cuz if i were 2 make it a bulletin itd fucking die in 10 days i dont particularly like that soooo HERE YAY
btw tw 4 kinda vague war stuff if someone endz up finding this in the wild!!! but i mean u guyz already know that stuff XP
- FIRST OFF general htf headcanon stuff [this admittedly has some crossover w/ toontown, as in i think theyre on the same planet I will explain]: so basically since different toons operate on different logic, even though they're in the same world (the tooniverse) they have to occupy different areas. i think tree town would be somewhere in the mid-to-southeast us area. by proxy of being in the tooniverse tree town has its own sort of toon force! in fact that's why the tree friends can not only die of the most innocuous injuries, not only survive stuff that ppl normally shouldn't, but also come back like every other day! of course that's not to say death can't be permanent for them, its just gotta be horrible enough, tragic enough, and grounded enough in reality for them to land themselves on the cutting room floor (afterlife!!!) it happened with pop's wife, plus a couple others i will get into soon
- now then, i believe there's quite a few tree friends who kinda moved in from other areas. i've seen it like this for months i think lumpy is just straight up from Maine. he was already a bit of a traveller prior to his moving to tree town (in fact, i think just deserts is one of his little escapades!), but he ended up getting pretty cozy in tree town, and really his only obstacles were the tiny fucker centered infrastructure and the language barrier, but he could handle it yknow
- next, i will admit i adopted this from queenie: lammy, mr pickels and truffles are also movers in! they come from a spookier town, kind of a spooky 2000s cartoon where the main humor is that everyone is a jerk to lammy. she moved to tree town to get a new perspective on life and maybe make some new friends, but it came at the cost of realizing that mr pickels has done nothing but make her life worse, so at some point, she's gotta cut him off
into slices - the mole mostly moved to tree town because it looked like a lovely place to retire from his spy life. as much as it felt like it did a service to its community throughout its career, it has to admit it got tiring, especially as it aged. of course, its blindness and difficulty hearing don't exactly let it have as good a time as itd like, especially not when it hits him that he's been killing guys left and right by pure happenstance. but y'know, they come back, and he gifts them little cards as apologies, probably even offers to do more stuff as compensation. it's whatcha do.
- disco bear similarly moved to tree town for the sake of leisure, but it was also so that he could find a real sense of community. his hometown did look bright in the sticker sense, but the pressure to keep with the trends was intense. he did see his opportunity to shine when disco was the hot new thing, but he got so caught up in the joy that it brought him, the confidence he needed so badly, that when the tides changed, he struggled to keep up. he still thinks he needs to put on a cocky face to impress the townsfolk, to not be cast aside as the town loser; it's why he tries to stay in the baritone range even though he can clearly be a good tenor too. if he knew people would like him if he didn't try to play casanova, he'd probably be living a happier life.
- unfortunately, not all the tree friends have the luxury of moving by choice, as is the case with lifty and shifty. they grew up in a very hostile environment, the kind that's a breeding ground for mob conflict. their dad got caught in the gunfire, leaving their mom as their sole caretaker, with an eye that was certainly watchful but not enough to notice shifty nabbing their father's crowbar. once she got offed several years later, the ifties had no choice but to haul ass and find a place to bury her, then to take refuge in. the train just happened to lead to tree town, and while they still couldn't quite scrounge up for anything more than an apartment room, not to mention the lingering distrust from some of their neighbors, it sure beats not having a home at all or any place to hide from everyone wanting to kill you!
- flippy sure didn't have it all sunshine and rainbows, either. he probably would have been content just being the thousand thirtieth indistinct bear soldier to lose his life in the weaponized animal regiment, but operation tiger bomb broke him and fliq, turning the latter from simply a protector into a full-on persecutor. even when he was promoted to a sergeant, he felt that he was too much of a danger to his fellow bears to continue serving. the moment the W.A.R. had come to an end, he announced his resignation and looked for someplace to call home. he didn't expect tree town's residents to treat him like he was special. he didn't even expect them to treat him like he was even there, let alone welcome him with open arms. it took a while before he realized how delusional fliq had become after the W.A.R., but he held out hope that his alter would come back to reality. at least there's some progress, because fliq can at least recognize the moose feller, and it looks like he's close to also realizing he's killed the same 20 or so critters multiple times. maybe that'll actually break him out of the constant delusion of being stuck in the retreat... but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (I do. I know he does teehee)
- sometimes it isn't even a conscious choice to go to tree town. russell didn't really even have a specific place to call home, because to him, his home was across the seven seas. sure, sometimes he would get stranded on the shores of tree town, but other than that, he's always been content to just sail around and eat a bunch of mussels along the way. the main reason he even decided to start living in tree town was because after resurrecting from the whale incident, lumpy wanted to apologize by showing the little guy around town. the gesture really touched russell, because for once, he had someone to care about, and they cared about him in return.
- of course that's not to say that tree town is a perfect place to be in, that's not to say everyone's the happiest in tree town (but i meannnn they are happy! it's in the name). they've still got their fears! take cuddles, for instance. he may be the resident daredevil, but his life in tree town hasn't left him unscathed. the one time he tried to get money from a blood drive left him a bit trypanophobic, so that kinda left a dent in his ego. and hey what's the big deal he's already got those tiny little needles to freak out why's he gotta be scared of small spaces too now he's gonna be a little pussy bitch :[ (yeah thats a reference to can't stop coffin i firmly believe its his most disturbing death) or at least that's what he thinks
i WILL update this post sometimes
