any plot twist ideas?

A teenage boy goes out with another teenage boy, both are complete opposites, but they dont complement each other like other couples do. They split up trying to find people that are more like them. Years later they reunite on the streets, and they find out that now the roles have inverted and have changed into the one they tried to escape.
