online friends are kinda weird to think about, because you don't know who they really are on the other side, they usually live a long way away from you, and meeting them irl seems dangerous. just my point of view, give me yours if you want.

of course, the main difference between irl and online friends is not having that physical face to face interaction, but everyone's a stranger with potentially bad intentions until you get to know them, right? just as i won't tell some random guy on the street where i live, i won't just tell the first person who slides into my dm's my address either. one of my closest friends is someone i met online and even if we haven't ever met up irl (live too far), it's still fun to talk and play games together. pen pals have been a thing since the 1930s and i think talking to people online is just the natural progression of that with how far technology has come. at least that's how i see it.
