Need feedback with this pixel art piece I made for a friend

Forum: Art and Photography

I made this pixel fanart for a manga my friend is working on. For context, this character in the middle is called Sadie and she's a ghost with an obsession for bugs. I decided to structure it like a bonus round for an NES game.

I'm currently in a 'do-i-leave-it-at-that-or-do-i-add-more-stuff' phase. Should I do smth with the background to make it more lively? Do I edit a few of the sprites? Or do I just leave it untouched?

Feedback is greatly appreciated (^~^;)ゞl

I'd say Sadie's "legs" look pretty strange regardless of the fact they're supposed to look the way they look. I think making her arms disconnected would help make her look a bit more coherent.
Although, I don't know what Sadie is supposed to look like outside of this art and that might be as good as it gets considering her design.

The tiles on the top of the ground could also use some more detail.

That's all just what I think, though :)

@Jammin' I wanna start off by saying, THANK YOU SO MUCH for providing feedback!!! I've reposted this on three different forums and so far you're the only one to provide me with criticism!!

Now, regarding her legs, that's how Sadie looks like. Since she's a ghost and everything, her legs are detached from her body. My friend has explained to me how the ghosts in her manga universe work but honestly I don't remember much ミ●﹏☉ミ

Regarding the 'tiles on top of the ground that need more detail' I'm assuming you're referring to the grass, right? Could you perhaps be a bit more elaborate regarding the detail? Should I choose different colors? Perhaps rework it altogether so they can look more like grass?

It's mostly that the dirt that peeks through the drooping grass needs more detail to be consistent with the rest of the dirt, along with the top of the grass needing to have lines similar to the lower part of the grass to make it look more like one thing.

I don't really feel like I'm being terribly helpful, but I'm happy if you're happy!
