That's true! It isn't fun at all!! It's so dehumanizing. We need to bring more personality to our profiles on social media. It's meant to be OUR profile with our personality on it. But it's awful how they want us to feel ashamed about what we upload

I only really use Youtube, if that even counts, because I have been using it so long I get really crazy algorithmn pulls daily. If anyone knows how to go even deeper into Youtube, I'd love that.
Well, I lied, I use the app of Cara. But that is for artists, by artists. Maybe it is because my art is good but I have been getting nothing but support, reposts, and likes on there. You compare this to places like art Tik Tok which are perpetual drama machines over someone drawing something that didn't fit into the userbase's narrow tastes of Genshin Impact style anime, it is damn near perfect.

I agree. I find myself having to taking breaks - sometimes for several months at a time, for my mental health's sake - despite me being a beta tester for many apps and sites these days.
There's so many people online who use social media to attack and post enrage bait to get others to engage with them for likes and follows - its tiring. Things would be so much easier is alot of these people just chose to seek out some form of Theraphy, instead of posting rubbish online that harms so many others around the world. But that's just my opinion anyway.

I can't disagree at all.
Between the bots (dead internet anyone?), the wacky algorithms forcing bullshit on your feed and banning you for stuff posted decades ago (that aren't even against the roles of today, no less), and the crazies from every hue of the political spectrum policing everything and using social media as a tool to bash your brains with if you disagree with them, it's become more of a chore than anything else.
Since my page isn't popular and I have less than twenty followers, maybe I should delete the accounts anyways... but wrath is also addictive.

I totally agree. I have felt the same way ever since MySpace gave way to Facebook. I never thought FB was "fun", so much as it was something people just had because everyone else had it. I always thought tinkering with my profile and meeting random people from all over the world was one of the most fun parts of MySpace. I was so excited when I learned about this site.Β

Real. I can't lie, I was never a MySpace user (as far as I know or can remember) but this feels so much better and takes me back to forums/threads n things (shoutout wbbo).
I kind of don't mind the mobile app not doing the pc site justice as well (imo) bc it keeps me using this site on my pc mainly rather than being sucked into it 24/7.

Not only social media is impersonal nowdays, but the amount of trash content in it in unbelievable. I keep getting dragged into it even when I know that what I'm watching is bad in every meaning of the word. It gets more and more sexist, transphobic, homophobic and violent in general everytime. It's impossible be on social media for a while without me feeling like I went back 100 years on time.
(sorry for my bad english)

Have you tried IRC?
It is free. It is Web1. It is bot/AI free. It has a friendly userbase. It is not mainstream and thus has less misinformation. It might not be very privacy friendly (a simple /whois can give a lot of info about your location) but NOBODY on it would use that to doxx you. And it is not corporate capitalist BS.
Long live this old protocol. Nobody has ever monetized it.
