ik we all hate hearing it but thrifting some basic clothes and bleach dying them or cuttings them or sewing the into different things, youve just gotta get creative with it (ik im not emo but thats cause its too fot to wear black)

You can always DIY or buy second hand !! I live in the UK so thrifting isn't always reliable but I found a lot of items to upcycle !!! Its all about the creativity. Buying from small sustainable businesses is always an option too

thrifting like the other person said. but you can also try stores like ross and tjmaxx. most of the stuff they sell is pretty basic, but you should be able to find at least something, you just need to have an imagination. you can turn basics into something that can look emo. for example, you can use a cheese grater on a regular pair of jeans to get rips. or you can get fabric paint and turn anything plain into something cooler that works for the look you're going for. i heard you can mix acrylic paint with fabric softener in order to make fabric paint, but i don't know too much about it so i suggest you look that up if you're interested in that

Idk how it's in the US, but where I live Vinted is pretty popular and you can easily find cool used clothes for reasonable money. Well, that's also why it's so hard to find good stuff in thrift stores as people resell them on the internet.

Any thrifting places are a really good source. I get most of my alt stuff off of Depop, and then modify it to my liking if I feel like it. Hot Topic is also really good for accessories and stuff, though they might be a little more pricey than thrifting or DIY-ing. Also, avoid directly purchasing anything from Dolls Kill or fast fashion brands. These things show up in thrift circles a lot, and while they might be good for thrifting, they don't last very long and the companies are usually pretty shit (especially Dolls Kill).
