What happened to the Internet? (The Dead Internet Theory)

I ask myself this a lot now. Why did the internet become a cold and dead place anywhere you look besides a place like this. Is it because of the greedy corporate power companies shove down your throat? Or is it from poor maintenance on the internet.

Science has shown that 50% of Internet traffic is now entirely bot based, meaning half the people you meet.. Aren't real.

Sad fact I know.
