Disordered comin the fuck back at you once again, been inactive lately because I haven't felt all that great but we're good for another forum post today.
The history lesson in case you somehow missed the title are the beginnings of brutal tech death. Technical death metal itself got its start in the late 1980s and early 1990s with bands like Atheist and the 1990 classic Piece of Time, Death's Human (1991), etc. but they aren't the main players today
As much as I hate giving them their flowers, Suffocation's 1991 Effigy of the Forgotten has a technical edge that'd inspire a few crops of US tech/BDM bands, an edge that'd be strengthened come 1995's Pierced from Within. However, between 1991 and 1996, the true pioneers of this style were none other than Canada's own Cryptopsy; their seminal 1993 demo Ungentle Exhumation, 1994's Blasphemy Made Flesh and 1996's monumental None So Vile sounded like NOTHING out at the time, with song structures, technical riffs and bass lines that'd annihilate any poser's baby ears and blew Suffocation outta the water
As a quick detour into the more progressive aspect of brutal death metal, Wicked Innocence's 1994 and 1995 efforts Anthropological Infestation and Omnipotence (respectively) sounded nothing like anything out at the time of their releases as well, their "weirdness" and progressive structures playing a part in influencing future bands. It's also worth mentioning Omnipotence's space/Sci-Fi aesthetic wasn't really done yet
In conclusion, the true pioneers of this style should always be Cryptopsy. There were a few other bands in the early 90s with a technical edge along with their brutal sound, but when you compare them to Ungentle Exhumation and consider that demo came out in 1993 (from Canada of all places... lol), you hopefully appreciate it more
Remember to keep it fuckin' sick
