Im more positive about his character i think. obviously its bad that hes friends with jimmy and didnt really do anything to help Anya but i think he was just kind of oblivious. I think he had the classic problem of trying to seperate your feelings about someone and their actions. I think he was blinded by years of friendship with Jimmy. but idk

Character DESIGN wise it's very eye catching and different from the rest of the crew post crash. LORE AND PERSONALITY wise I'm between neutral and positive. He's a good guy, but struggles to act on those ideals because of how much he valued his friendship with Jimbo

i'm neutral, because i don't think he did anything horrible, yet he didn't do anything amazing either. i think he could've done more for confronting jimmy about what he did to anya; but his friendship with jimmy got in the way.

I think Curly is an amazing character, a nice guy who's too nice to take
action, and the irony of his inaction causing him to literally be
unable to do anything at all is so great!!! :333

[going to lost it im just gonna shorten what i was gonna sa cuz im not retping all of that after accidentl closing the window anwa]
tbh
To me, Curly is just another victim of Pony Express's capitalism. He never got the sleep he needed to operate his role the best he can as sleeping over 5 hours could "result in disciplinary action". He was too blind with hope and friendship to see that [Jumbo Josh] is far gone, but not only that didn't fully understand the suffering Anya went through. It is like how some people may see grief, but equally applied in traumatic events, as a small sickness that will completely go away overtime because they didn't go through with it theirself. He didn't just care about [Jumbo Josh] he cared for the rest of the crew, reassuring them that he would exclude anything that would fall under "poor team synergy" as it would result in punishment such as getting fired and have no way of income [I FEEL like he said it to everyone but I could be wrong and it's just Anya I don't fully remember??? I feel dumb now auhg].
I'm purely neutral but I can see a little of myself in Curly. I with live bad people and my mind wants to find light in them. They are people who think a lot like [Jumbo Josh], but haven't done as bad as him. Though, I am very pissed off he didn't do anything to help Anya really but, like, I can get why did what he did
Ahgguhhrgrrrrr headacheee aughghg

@jadie waow never thought about how pony express' policy effected the characters, i always saw it as one of the random dark humor bits throughout the game

I'm on neutral too. reasons being he's typically shown as a morally greyish character; wanting to help and be there for everyone even though it only worsens things in the end. he wanted to help his long-term/childhood(?) best friend while also wanting to help Anya in a way and decided to try and help both of them in the middle ground which doesn't really work.

im on neutral but depending on the situation, i teeter back n forth !! while i don't condone his actions, especially on how he ignores most problems within his crew despite being captain and the chaos that erupted from it (credits to juxtaposition), i think he'd be one to strongly regret said actions. n i think its a little interesting how he started as a sideline watcher and soon was forced to be on the sidelines, watching everything fall apart

Honestly I love his character, it is very complicated and faceted :OOO like- I don't see him as a morally "bad" character, but in the end he still is an enabler. But there's so much more to his character as well! Like- the whole reversal of roles with Jaundice and Curly, the past friendship they had and how that would affect him in being a good captain n all
I've heard people talk about how his situation is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't", and I kinda vibe with that. Honestly, what was he supposed to do? Considering Curly has been friends with Jurisdiction (im running outta names omg) for years now, maybe he knew how badly Jimbob could lash out, and so Curly was trying to protect the crew by keeping him happy. Obviously that didn't turn out in the end though. Even if Curly did try to do something, what would he do? Not like he could just casually throw Jackass out the airlock (that's a good option though).
Even so, it doesn't really excuse his lack of actions. He should've done something.
(small addon I do really like his character arc post-crash, especially the part where he starts laughing at J*mmy finding the gun- it really shows so much about how he's realized how bad J*mmy actually is n all hhhhhfdh)
