Idk if this counts as a subculture, but I noticed power pop/indie pop has a bit of a following online, especially in Asia. I even found someone who called themselves a "popkid" which is a term I find I identify with a lot...

People obsessed with the 80s-00s, kinda hipster-y, like vinyl, listens to stuff like any bands with Amelia Fletcher or obscure Swedish groups. (I know some people calling it "Swindie" or Swedish indie).

So if being a "popkid" counts, it'd be Sparky's Dream by Teenage Fanclub.

I was first "introduced" to metal when I first heard dying fetus on an episode of south park but i wasnt into them yet.

Then i started out on metalcore, my first band was "As I Lay Dying" and it was awesome.

I then went through the normal route of metal like Megadeth and Metallica... and then I found out about Slipknot

They are so heavy in a good way and I fell in love IMMEDIATELY.

And then i went down a rabbit hole and soon found my way out of nu metal and into the heavier thrash such as Exodus and Testament.

After that, I found out about Death Metal. Bands such as Obituary, Death (of course), and Deicide.

I have dove into Black Metal but they're not really my cup of tea as I prefer louder music in general.

Anyway, my current favorite genre of metal right now is Slam, Brutal Death, and Tech Death.

Obviously cant forget that every metal fan MUST know about Metalocalypse.
