Had there ever been a song that you listened in public way before it was popular?

Plus it’s kinda funny when people don’t know the rest of the song but they say it’s their favorite song!! I remember being obsessed with Nasty Dog by Sir Mix-a-lot and I always looped it but then it got a little boring so I was a little bit of an insane Sir Mix-a-lot fan, so when I heard it while someone was scrolling on TikTok, adrenaline and memories rushed through me in complete shock. I was like “ It’s popular now?” Soon I realized that I don’t like trending music, someone interrupted me in the middle of my humming (Emo Boy by Ayesha Erotica) and they said “ I LOVE that song” and then I asked “who is it by” and they said “Oh, I have no clue” like WHAT!!?

same for can you feel my heart. my friends always say it's their favourite song but when i send them other bmth songs they ask "who are they?" like wth man

Harness Your Hopes by Pavement. One of my favorite authors is Dennis Cooper, and Stephen Malkmus is friends with him IIRC, so I heard that song wayy before it got popular on tiktok.

I'm sorry I sound like such a hipster lol.

Oh, and I see stuff by The Cardigans, The Wannadies, and The Cranberries sometimes on tiktok too and im like YESSS.
