I just commented on another forum like this, but I LOVE Agustina Bazterrica and Ottessa Mosfegh's work, they're amazing female authors who've made probably the best horror/grotesque literature

Vivek Shraya is an amazing author work checking out. Maxine Tynes is an amazing poet, also worth checking out. Also if you're into horror at all, and enjoy experimentation with writing Allison Rumfitt is amazing!

In a single book, he can make you feel the entire range of emotions(horror, comedy, love, disturbance, etc..), and his edgy style can be a fresh breath of air.

And boy can he make me cry, so bad. His writing is an emotional rollercoaster, but man am I all in for it. In case you're wondering, the book that made me ugly cry was The Green Mile.

He has A LOT of his books adapted as movies that reach classic status, that's just like how good he is.

Another fella is Miguel De Cervantes known for his Don Quixote if you're more in the mood for a comedy.

It's a funny scene after the other, it never stops. This story will keep you entertained and snickering  through out of it. I don't quite know how to explain it, it's an experience to say the least. I've never quite read another book like this one, despite it being centuries old, it's really unique. Maybe I've just not read enough books, idk, but it feels really original.

the poet that was my turning point for becoming one myself was t.s. eliot. his poems are, on a technical level, fucking immense. he had a genuinely excellent command of language and was incredibly well-read which means he had a vast bank of technique to draw upon.

forewarning: he was a fascist asshole! this is simply typical of most white modernist writers. take it into account, but still, he's well worth reading.

my two recommendations:
'the love song of j. alfred prufrock'
'the hollow men'
