Anyone with hotel job experience that can share some experiences?

I might be able to get a job at this pretty normal and well rated hotel in my area. I really want to apply, but I've never worked at a hotel before.

I love working with costumers and problem solving + cleaning is pretty chill for me.

What are you guys' experience with working at a hotel? Is it something I should go for?

didn't work at a hotel but worked as a receptionist for something that was (arguably) very similar.

the only thing to keep in mind is service industry jobs (especially those where the staff isn't public facing 100% of the time) often have insane drama going on behind the scenes, so just... keep an eye out for that. and like any other service industry job, there's always that one dude who's trying to hit on the 18y/o who just started working there....

keep a good head on your shoulders and treat it like a job and it'll be fine. service industry can be pretty fun, most people burn out fast though (myself included)

the worst thing that happens is when you get a customer who is incredibly tired. people with late flights or traveling in a cramped car for hours cause you want to help them so bad but there could be no rooms, their card declines, or anything goes wrong they are either in dread or just viciously angry. you just gotta be sympathetic with them everyone knows how much it sucks to be tired.
