My memory is a bit fuzzy but I think I was looking for random anime art to get inspiration from when I ran across an Revolutionary Girl Utena screen shot. I was fascinated by the style and aesthetic but I still didn't watch it for a long time until I saw someone posting about RGU on tumblr.
EDIT: I just remembered it was actually an AMV for a song by J^p^n. It
was after that that I looked for more images of the characters for
inspiration

Good question!
I stumble into a song which was a cover of one of the duel songs from revolutionary girl utena and I loved it. One day I searched it up on YouTube trying to find it since the cover is just titled "Revolutionary Girl Utena" and so that's how I found it!

I'd heard of the anime already, but never looked into it, until I found a really nice AMV on youtube and became obsessed. Binged the whole series shortly after lol <3

I was watching various video essays by Noralities on youtube, and I stumbled upon her Utena essays and the show sounded really cool! ^^
It has now been my favorite piece of media for around five years now!
