PSP games recommendations

The 3rd birthday is really good IMO and also phantasy star portable.

Kurohyou 1 and 2 - decent sidefighter with a good story

Persona 2 innocent sin / eternal punishment I'm sure you know

A quick and dirty list of games I'd recommend would have to be, Death Jr., Project DIVA, Echochrome, Power Stone Collection, N+, Patapon

If you're looking for something on the weirder side then try "Work Time Fun"

HUGE fan of FF Tactics WotL! cannot recommend it enough. i will say: if you're playing on a modded PSP i would recommend applying the slowdown patch first. works with both physical UMD's and downloaded copies. it's not required, but helpful if you can't deal with the slowdown in battles

You should put custom firmware on your PSP if you haven't already to put endless PS1 games onto it! I've been using mine as my Final Fantasy VIII machine hehe

That aside though, and aside from the obvious recommendations like FF7 Crisis Core and the God of War games: Have you played Gitaroo Man Lives? In a similar vein of music games there's also the Patapon trilogy which is a must-play. There's also the duo of legendary Square Enix RPGs, Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

IIRC Tekken 5 got a full PSP release (I think its called Dark Resurrection) and its REAL good if you like 3D fighting games! Other faves of mine are Patapon 1 and 2 (3 went in a different direction gameplay wise), Me & My Katamari (I ADORE that series, if youre ever looking for a simple but really fun/cute game series with an amazing soundtrack look it up!), Resistance Retribution is a very impressively done 3rd person shooter, Patchwork Heroes is a fun one where you cut big airships apart (everything has a sort of scrapbooky art style), Wipeout Pulse is IMO one of the best wipeout games (think FZero but way more focused on racing and y2k aesthetics), and Loco Roco 1 and 2 are fun unique 2D platformers with fun music ^~^
