Your PaRappa The Rapper/Un Jammer Lammy Experience!!!

Ooh!! Mine actually dates back to a long time ago!

While not my introduction to the games. My first introduction to the character PaRappa was back in 2012 during the time PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale came out and I played as PaRappa every single time because I loved his design a lot!

From then on I would go to look more up about his character and discovered PTR1 and UJL via YouTube! And this was also when and where I discovered his anime from the 2000s :D. I remember watching a lot of clips about that anime!

I also remember sometime in 2014 or something I got a PSX emulator on my android tablet and played PTR1 that way but didn’t really grow a fondness for it :/

Fast forward to current times (2020) where I finally gave his games another shot and I LOVED THEM!! I only played PTR1 via an emulator on my iPhone but I played it SO MUCH! If I remember correctly I racked up over 100 hours on that game alone as the emulator also displayed your total play time :D. I was pretty addicted!

And it was that moment that really transcended my obsession for the PaRappa series! I am officially part of the fandom and have been since 2020! I also played UJL a few months later and also really loved it!! I managed to pirate both PTR1 (remaster) and UJL on my PSP and I couldn’t stop playing those games ^^

(Edit: I think I missed the question in the forum… oops HAHA WELP, i misread it as your first experience! But basically the games are really fun, I find UJL to control better, the timing is more accurate compared to PTR1)

Initially I was introduced to PaRappa through a robot chicken sketch (specifically the one where PaRappa is in a court trial), and then I watched PewDiePie play through the first game and also discovered the anime series at the same time. Back when all the episodes were available to watch in glorious stretched 16:9 english subbed 2-4 part glory.

That was when I REALLY got into the series and wanted to see everything there was to know about PaRappa.

I never actually got to play the games for myself until around 2013 when I ordered a copy off Amazon. Coincidentally it also became my very first PS1 game I owned and played. That same year I also discovered the PS3 Store as I just got my PS3 on Christmas 2012. From there I was able to try out both Um Jammer Lammy and Tayman for the first time. I think it was 2014 or late 2013 when I got to play PaRappa 2 for the first time as well, also ordered off Amazon. 2015 was when I finally got my hands on a physical copy of UJL and was also the year I got my physical copy of PaRappa 1 at a GameStop, which was really exciting to me. Then I began to get into importing games in 2016 starting with PaRappa 1 and my first merch being the collectible doll figure with the fabric clothing.

To this day I still look into all the PaRappa related content to see what is out there. I still learn about old merch I never even knew existed. The amount of merch out in the wild is incredible.

I use to be BATSHT scared of parappa the rapper as a kid, idk why. Probs because of the flat design of the game on the first one, and parappas eyes too i have no idea man. My uncle was one of the reasons I ended up hearing about it because he was really obsessed with it, He started playing the game since it came out, and the character act VERY MUCH like he does lol. (he is insanely good at the game too like I CANNOT play 2 player with him because i would be humbled QUICKLY.)

it wasn't until like a few years later probably like 2019??? that I tried to get over my fear of things that use to scare me, and started playing parappa the rapper and watching parappa gameplay, and I immediately got obsessed with the game.

as for jammer lammy I found that game fairly recently and im also in love with it lol.
