Battle royale by Koushun Takami is extremly good--it's the inspiration for hunger games. Instead of examining one person's adventure through the death game, it gives humanity and delves into each of the character's motivations on why they're acting the way they are. It doesn't focus as much on the dystopian aspects of the society as hunger games--it's more about being an allegory for growing up. Very impactful scenes.

if you're still looking, 'So much to tell you' by John Marsden is really good!! its a short personal story about a lonely young girl who struggles to speak and is trying to find her voice. I found it really relatable as I had much of the same issue just a couple years ago, although to a lesser extent.
