If you want a book recommendation:

The Psychonaut Field Manual  is (in my opinon) an excellent place to start learning. Regard this as a syllabus - spend a good amount of time (as in weeks) with each section and supplement it heavily with other material on the topic.

If you want video content to watch:

Foolish Fish has an excellent playlist intended to introduce the beginner to a variety of topics

Mimi Kuo-Deemer has great instructional qigong videos (link goes to the 8 Brocades)

Dr Angela Puca has discussions of many esoteric and esoteric-adjacent topics through an academic lens

If you want my advice:

It doesn't matter what school or style or "brand" your magick is - what matters is that it's magickal to you. There's no set of rote procedures handed down on high that you MUST follow in order for it to work (unless you're into that, don't let me greyface you). Magick is an art, and your magick is yours.

Magick is powered by your belief in it, so find what is believably magickal to you. Hang on to it tightly, it's going to hold everything else together for a while.

Then, the first steps to take are

Learn to meditate. This is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT item in this post. Do it daily. Make no excuses. The length of your meditation session is not nearly as important as the frequency with which you meditate. You don't need candles, incense, darkness, a special posture, guide tapes, binaural gimmicks, none of that. Those things are nice to have but they're not necessary. Two minutes each day whenever you have a quiet moment alone is better than two hours every weekend.

Learn a form of divination. I recommend the pendulum, as it is simple to operate, easy to assemble, cheap to purchase, and delivers very clear answers in an instant. There is a plethora of material available on the internet that can be found by entering "pendulum dowsing" into your favorite search engine.

I also strongly recommend picking up a second and even third method of divination as you become more comfortable with the practice, such as Tarot, Rune casting, or I Ching. It is also advantageous, though not strictly necessary, for you to familiarize yourself with a form of astrology.

Keep a journal. Like the meditation, what is most important is frequency. Get in the habit of writing everything down, so in the future you can come back and see what you did and what worked.

Take up some form of energy practice. Even if you're not into the whole "energy and vibrations maaaan" thing it's still a tried true and effective form of magic that feels tangible, and gives you a reference point for a lot of currently popular woo-woo so you can understand your fellow practitioners. Taoist practices such as Qigong, Tai Chi, and Baguazhang are my preference, though Tantra/Tantric Yoga are currently very popular and easily accessible (albeit in a watered-down "westernized" form, for the most part).

Read everything that you can stand reading, anyway. It's the 21st century, you don't have to pore over musty old tomes written in Latin or Greek/Aramaic papyri or hieroglyphs etched into stone monuments to learn how to magick (again, unless that's your thing - absolutely do not let me stop you). There are a plethora of books available on nearly every esoteric topic imaginable, written to all levels of practitioner, and there is something to learn from nearly all of them.

Hope this helps, and feel free to hmu with further questions you may have, I'll help as I can!

most wicca stuff is whitewashed established cultural and stolen rituals. if you know your ethnicity, starting there is good. "(ethnicity) magicks and beliefs" what youll find a lot of the time is that it varies per person and goal. what is your desired effect with this stuff? protection? understanding? i promise you if it all worked crazy effectively 100% of the time there'd be full time paid witches as a regular job, but beliefs and magicks are fickle and can be quite unpredictable. its not a science, so accuracy is inconsistent. Looking into the history of a variety of religions can help as well. I have also found a good beginners guide but remember, everyone's path is different so take it all with a good grain of salt
