The Internet Is Already Dead

So yall might have seen the dead internet theory. We are so close to AI taking over the world. If you go on twitter you get thousands of dms from bots and AI comments, wich half of the time complain they dont have an api key XD. If you go on facebook (no one even uses facebook anyways) you see AI generated art EVERYWHERE. Here's Matt Rose's video on taht

EVEN YOUTUBE IS FILLED WITH AI GENERATED COMMENTS! Stuff like the fake mr beasts, the uttp and other ai stuff. And there are also AI Influencers. Thankfully there arent that many.

30% of all trafic on the internet is AI. 13% are the good bots that are used for like customer service or for a website to function. BY 2025 PEOPLE SPECULATE IT WILL BE 99%

THE INTERNET STARTED TO DIE WHEN CHATGPT AND DALLE MINI WAS INTRODUCED. Now theres sora ai and chatgpt making scarely accurate ai pictures. EVEN GOOGLE REPLACED THEIR SEARCH WITH AI. It tells people to eat rocks, add glue to their pizza, saying that everything on the internet is 100%, and that a dog has been in the nba. And even google images is filled with AI. Tahts why i switched to Brave Search. It has AI but it summarises information from the internet and gives you acurate responses. And also doesnt tell you to take a bath with a toaster. Yes thats google ai's actual response to a question. Brave's ai has some quirks like saying you can cook CDs and that Umboshi ends in "um" and that the deez nuts joke originated in the 80s.

Also, the main problem with ai generated videos and images is that they are disturbing.

Solution? Try to avoid AI or get off the internet entirely and watch tv or something else. OH WAIT! STUFF ON TV IS ALSO FILLED WITH MISINFORMATION AND AI. At this point we should just get ready for an ai apocalypse.

I personally have strayed away from using google for a while now. It's just the whole "your data is our profit" business model is icky to me. And now corporations are using OUR data in THEIR shitty AI models? I mean like what the fuck right? I can't wait for the public to finally realise that linux and open source software is the right way.

there are way worse things about ai videos other than that they are disturbing. actually it was better when they used to be more disturbing because it was easier to distinguish between ai and real footage.

Nah, the internet started to die way before AI was a thing, but I'm sure it's accelerated the effect.

this kind of topics make me wonder if there is ever gonna be somethin like an alternate version of the internet in the future? take spacehey for example, someone made it out of need for social media not to be as intrusive as modern ones, is it even possible to create an internet 2.0?

JossArtie, what about Tor, Lokinet, I2P, Freenet and GNUnet?  Lots of alternative 'internets' already exist running over existing infrastructure.

Yeah even on instagram- I see a post with like 15k likes but with 36 comments. Bots have always been a thing but with the use of AI, we could see a lot more in the future.

Bots on YouTube are not a new problem. A lot of the things bots are doing are not new problems, actually--the popularity of AI has simply highlighted the issues in the public eye.

Writers talk about worrying that an AI will replicate their books when books from people like Mark Dawson existed long before AI became coherent.

Also, some of it is less bad than it looks. Image gen AI replacing human artists is unethical, but the same tech is being honed and used in the medical field to detect things like cancer more quickly.

We're in a growth period. Humans aren't great about ethics when new tech drops but it typically evens out.

Don't blame the gun, blame the shooter.

It's what they want to do and what they've planned. AI is not a new thing, but right now we're just seeing their plans in brute action.

It's usually mainstream content that gets bombarded with this shit, so it doesn't surprise me at all. Pretty much how news are bought and manipulated by current affairs interests :P

I don't really like Brave search. I tried it once and it didn't work for me, but I might try it again.

I use:

- Startpage

- You.com

- Qwant

- Mojeek (they have their own crawlers and index)

- Swisscows

- Yandex (Ik, but the results are actually pretty good & their image search is good, too).

-SearX (which is a meta search engine)

@Joss Artie; you're already ON web 2.0, aka the commodified, branded, and paywalled version version of the original internet.

I actually like messing around with AI. Normal people can now create things which a few years ago was only possible with studio equipment. In, I don't know... 5 years, you'll be able to type in a movie plot and watch a movie that will be created with AI. Video games will be more like dreams... have any of you played stuff like AI Dungeon?

With AI posts and such, that's nothing new. There's always been this battle between platforms and bots/spammers. That's what killed off Yahoo Chat. There were bots on AOL if I remember right.

I agree the internet is dead, but what killed it is that everything of significance is owned and run by like 3 companies. The end of MySpace is actually a good marker for when things started to suck, when you couldn't just chat and befriend random people anymore and everyone had to use their real names all the time.

AI right now is what the internet was in 1998. I'm like one of those people with a GeoCities page. Learn AI and enjoy it before these megacorporations and governments dominate and ruin it like they ruin everything else.

I've seen the UTTP guys in youtube, these fuckers are just spreading pedophiliac propaganda and promoting it in their discord servers, how come youtube and other platforms aren't doing something about it by themselves without pressuring coming from news outlets calling youtube names?
