While I do not suffer from BDD, I empathize.
From my knowledge on the subject matter, BDD is influence by trauma, discrimination, bullying, and low self esteem. Or to result in lowered autonomy and lack of identity.
If this sounds about right, for you that is, things do get better if you allow them to. When a person feels helpless, invisible, and hopeless, a lot of bad to worse events become frequent. Structuring a sense of normality and doom. As if you're out of control or have none. This is not true. It's a habit you built, constructing that of a self-made prison. As first you may not notice, but the coping mechanism to protect and shield you from extreme emotional or physical environments, creates destitution later on if not carefully managed. To the point it's only well after you're trapped feeling this way, that you begin to ask questions like you have.

I suggest baby steps on growing your autonomy, and self-control back. To own your own life again, and then tackle your self esteem and sense of fulfillment.

Self-Reflection and Awareness

- Take time to reflect on what truly matters to you. Identify your core values, beliefs, and what makes you feel fulfilled. This awareness helps guide your decisions and actions.
- Recognize situations, people, or habits that make you feel out of control or undermine your autonomy. Understanding these triggers is crucial for managing them effectively.

Set Clear Boundaries

Establish limits on what is acceptable to you in relationships, work, and daily interactions. Communicate these boundaries clearly and assertively.
Practice saying no to requests or demands that do not align with your values or overwhelm you. Saying no is a vital part of maintaining control over your life.

Decision-Making Skills

Take ownership of your decisions, big or small. Weigh the pros and cons, consider how they align with your values, and make choices that support your goals and well-being.
Build confidence in your ability to make decisions. Even if mistakes happen, view them as learning opportunities rather than failures.

Self-Efficacy

Start with small, manageable goals that help build your confidence. Gradually, work towards more challenging goals that empower you to take control of various aspects of your life.
Acknowledge and celebrate your successes, no matter how small. This reinforces your sense of competence and control. [Especially if you have ADHD]

Emotional Regulation

Engage in mindfulness or meditation to stay present and manage stress. This helps you respond to situations with clarity rather than reacting impulsively. [The goal is to achieve zen, a calmness of body and mind].
Learn and apply healthy coping mechanisms, such as deep breathing, journaling, or talking to someone you trust, to manage difficult emotions and regain control.

Positive Relationships

Build relationships with people who respect your autonomy, support your goals, and encourage your personal growth.

Self-Compassion

Treat yourself with compassion, especially during setbacks. Understand that regaining control is a process, and it’s okay to take it one step at a time.
Recognize that striving for perfection can undermine autonomy. Focus on progress, not perfection.

Consistency

Take regular steps toward your goals, even if they are small. Consistent action helps reinforce your sense of agency and control.
Periodically review your progress, reassess your goals, and make adjustments as needed to stay on track.

Overall, l
earning new skills or gaining knowledge in areas that interest you can boost your confidence and sense of autonomy. This could be through hobbies, volunteering, local workshops, etc.. The limit is yours. You are so young with a life waiting to start. Allow yourself to start and experience what little time you have here on Earth. There is no reset button.
