doesn't have to be an album from the whole collective, it can be an alhum from one member or from former members.
my favorite odd future (collective) album has to be either of the odd future tapes. vol 1 or 2. for me, i didn't think radical had that much staying power in comparison to 2 or even 1, and while 2 imo is better than 1, 1 has more charm to it, i think. it's a lot rougher around the edges and i like that.
for individual members' albums, i'd probably say...
the super d3shay EP (does this count as cheating? matt martians and brandun deshay made it), nostalgia ultra, honestly all of tyler's albums, EARL, doris, and no idols.
the super d3shay EP to me just sounds good in terms of production even though brandun had a few lame bars on it. nostalgia ultra features some very beautiful singing, lyricism, and emotion. with tyler it's more of a struggle thing, bastard and goblin honestly aren't the best albums in the world, some songs are actually really bad but i can relate to the feelings tyler's felt with all his albums to some extent. for bastard, it's the impact of fatherlessness and the desire to stay young. (but instead of thinking about, yknow, S/Aing my classmates, i'm just annoying on the internet). for goblin it's the pained and confused aspects, a lot of the time i feel like my brain is just fogged over and tyler probably felt that way too in the wolf trilogy in terms of the portrayal of his tyler character in the wolf trilogy and especially goblin. for wolf and cherry bomb i dont actually relate to them tbh but they sound nice. for flower boy, i also struggled with my identity a lot when i was younger but now i thiiiink i know what i am, i hope. same w/ IGOR. then for cmiygl, i dont relate a lot to it, but i used to process a lot of negative emotions by filling the void with material items or with meaningless distractions. some people have viewed tyler's use of "money, cars, wealth, jewelry, i'm rich guys i have a lot of money" to shit on cmiygl and call it vapid, and certainly in a vacuum that would be true but it feels anti-intellectual to put it in that vacuum. no, it's a part of the album, it actively contributes to the message and concept. then for EARL, earl just raps really good on it. same for doris but i also loved the more introspective lyricism. then with no idols, i like domo, he's good, i appreciate his wrestling references and the alchemist is a good producer and i liked the features.
