How do you cope with the fact that your dog is going to die

I have a 14 year old basset/dachshund mix. his health has been declining greatly over the past year or so. he has bladder issues, hes going blind and deaf and he potentially has cancer.

i feel like its likely that Iḿ loosing him sometime soon. i dont know how to deal with it. ive had this dog since i was fucking three i dont know if i can handle it.

any advice?

1. be there if you have to end their suffering.
2. Make a memorial corner, ask for a pawprint or some other keepsake.
3. some people wear their dogs' collars after they pass.  I personally don't but, I also don't judge the people who do.

I didn't plan well for my last dog.  She was a mix and was white with some red flecks, dots, and blotches.  She was vaguely shepherd shaped and had rose ears and I loved her to death. I am crafty,  and I think I'll save all my next dog's fur so I can make a sweater to remember them by.  There are many ways to grieve, and don't let anyone tell you your style of grieving is wrong.
