Why isn't there a star trek anime?

Or better yet, what should or would a star trek anime be like? I say this as star wars has gotten its own sort of anime and the closest thing we have to it has trekkies is an amerimanga from 2006 :|

Personally I believe a short story style similar to visions would work just as well for this franchise, seeing as it could focus on other aliens or planets previously looked over. Or a short 12 episode series about either previous series cadets or new students, considering how easy of a slam dunk a school setting for anime would be. Or possibly a longer 24 episode series but thats stretching lol
