exhaust scavenging on smaller engines?

HELLO! fellow automotive enthusiasts. I have just one question for you guys. so I`ve been thinking is exhaust scavenging effective on smaller displacement engines like inline two`s? I myself own a classic 750cc Kawasaki and want to make the most of it. yes I know its dumb to expect speed out of a older motorcycle but I quite like older vehicles since I'm not a fan of ecu`s and fuel injection don't get me wrong I still like modern stuff for its easy power but I like being able to just use my bare hands to effect my bikes performance. and I ran off topic back to it then. so I've seen factory and performance exhausts and I see they use an H-pipe method would a Y-pipe or X-pipe not serve any better effect? any other tips on performance would be greatly apprieciated thanks!

theres only so much that a performance exhaust can do when you're running a stock carb, especially if we're talking 70s bikes/cars
id personally start off there
