Should Sonic be rebooted?

I want Sonic to be cool and Dr. Eggman to be a serious threat again and ditch Orbot and Cubot.  Also we need characters playable again at least for Adventure style games.  So far we only get to play as other characters in 2D games like Mania, Superstars, and the recent SonicXShadow Generations game with Shadow being playable.  I count it as 2D as well as 3D because of the different stages.  Just 3D games though?  Sonic and only Sonic.  Different characters means a different story because of the focus on other personalities, abilities, and perspectives.  For instance, a game about Silver or Blaze would be refreshing.  Even the Chaotix would be cool to see in a game.  Knuckles hasn't been able to do much so a new game starring him would be like the Adventure games.  Tails too.  And Amy.  And Rouge.  Heck let's toss in Big and Gamma/Omega.  The plot?  Timeline reboot.  Silver has to go back in time to prevent a total reboot from happening and fails, so you start the game as him.  As he encounters everyone else in the story, they become playable and have their own mini stories.  Then you have a big finale with a final level and a final boss.  Maybe the one from Generations?  It can be a sequel.  Why not?
