Hey all! I've been a furry for quite some time and this is my 2nd year going to a local-ish convention. Last year both me and my friend, who I'll refer to as Sleepy, had a spot on Artist Alley. We were 15 and had a blast! I did ONE $15 commission the whole time after Sleepy made like $275... ⊙﹏⊙∥I was mostly there for emotional support lmao. This year she's forcing me to branch out of my comfort zone a bit and take "a few" REAL commissions and I am TERRIFIED! I am quite a perfectionist and am scared I'll get overwhelmed or be unable to do what a client wants. What should my prices be? I like drawing robots, should I still charge extra for bots like other people? How do I make convincing references to attract people? Any tips or tricks for meeting deadlines while keeping your head on your shoulders?

Here is my current badge for the con that I made a few days ago to help reflect what my prices should be! It took me mayble 2-ish hours from sketch to color BUT I was BSing with watching The Bear while making it lol

TLDR; Never done commissions before and am anticipating I'll need help with time and stress management. Any help is welcome!

ADDITIONALLY; we were grossly underprepared for the con! We were hungry
and constantly ran out of art supplies! Any tips on what to bring or
prepare for besides food n' art junk would ALSO be appreciated :3

bring water and hand sanitizer- you never know where people've touched(no matter who, germs suck ass), and hydrating is good no matter what. for prices, it depends a lot on confidence- look at what other artists have up, gauge what they're putting out(without putting yourself down), and make a judgement call. but once you make that call, stick by it unless you feel a very good reason to. if you like drawing bots, i'd consider making that a "gimmick"- gimmicks seem stupid, but there's a chance giving yourself a style can draw the right people to you. a lot of this is planning and confidence- plan for any sort of emergency(allergens, high/low temp, etc), and be confident in that whatever call you make is the right one. live the day in a way that makes you get into bed and have a nice sleep at the end of it. :>
