I mostly prefer the live action adaptions to miniseries than the books.

My favourite Darcy & Bingley is from Lost In Austen (2008).

As well as Elizibeth's parents.

It's almost comparative to an "Alice in Wonderland" spin on it.

That series is usually how I introduce people to Jane Austen's stories.

I tell people to skip the unnecessary prologue and get right into watching it or the title sequence.

The casting, direction and dialogue was brilliantly done.

It has the most entertaining Bingly:

Along with, Morven Christie is a very elegant & calm, Jane Bennet:

It also had an interesting twist on Wickham.

In that they completely rewrote him to NOT be a Libertine nor predatory.

Things aren't as they seemed.

My favourite Emma & Mr Knightly are from the 2009 version.

The Knightly's debates with her, are really well performed.

And:

Johdi May as Anne Weston is by far my favourite and steals the show with her silent expressions.

Jodhi May as Anne Weston, and her silent expressions, as brief as they are, steal the show for me.

From Mansfield Park 2007:

Thomas & Edmund

Favourites are Thomas & Edmound Bertarm is James D'arcy & Blake Ritson, respectively.

Hayley Atwell as Mary Crawford along side her brother Henry Crawford

Hayley Atwell is the most convincing Mary Crawford. (i find).

Also Billie Pepper's unspoken concerns and her lightheartedness to find ways to be appreciate being happy, in-spite of things:

I also really liked Rory Kinner as James Rushworth. For giving him more depth.

Rushworth alongside a conflicted Maria Bertram, (as portrayed by Michelle Ryan).

It's certainly the version to watch first, before the 1999 film.

As their differences have stark but interesting contrasts.

Especially noticeable with the casting and portrayals of the Crawfords:

The Crawford siblings

1999 Mansfield Park was depressing & dark, but I did visually like the tableaux at the end.

The lighting seemed ideal enough for what they could capture with what they filmed with..

And the portrayal of Henry Crawford was an interesting fable of what not to become, in both versions.

But Alessandro's passionate "Doubt me?!" line in that one, was epic & relatable.

I just wish that character made better choices after that than to have failed himself & others.

Alessandro Antine Nivola as Henry Crawford and Frances Ann O'Connor as Fanny Price

Alessandro Antine Nivola as Henry Crawford and Frances Ann O'Connor as Fanny Price. I was charmed by both portrayals by them.

And I also could have sworn he read from that book in the library, much better than I had remembered, but I must of replaced his voice with my own version of how he would have read it. Sounded better in my head from what I remember, but still good nonetheless:

I am still reading my way through that book for the first time, to find if that scene was in the original story, or not.

But I have only read 1/4th the way into Mansfield Park & Emma.

I need to find more readable versions, as I find how they were written, difficult to comfortably follow.

But one can tell that I do like ensembles.

If anyone knows the most approachable & rewritten versions of her literary work, then be sure to mention them; and I will give those a try.
