It's such a bummer to see this group not active at all when I have started getting into older music, especially prog rock! So, I am deciding to break the no forum to bulletin streak. What are some of your favorite prog-rock bands? I may not be too deep compared to others, but to start the conversation, some of mine are Gong, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Jethro Tull and The Moody Blues.

Yes used to be one of my top favorite prog bands, and I still like them today even tho I don't listen to them as much. Two of my other big favorites are Gentle Giant and Phish. Phish is kind of a strange one, since they don't do as much prog stuff these days, and their core has always been a jam band (inspired by Grateful Dead). But, in their earlier albums they made some really awesome and wild stuff that I've loved learning on guitar.
Gentle Giant is much closer to the genre, and they make stuff that I think has a fantasy/medieval vibe, and can also be silly and funky which I like. Anyway, it was cool finding this group and I hope more people come in and share stuff too.

King Crimson, especially the USA Live album.
That first album remains one of the best ever.
