so yk how the big four of thrash metal is metallica, megadeth, anthrax, and slayer well who do y'all think would be the big four of nu metal? personally I would say Korn, limp bizkit, soad, and linkin park. [even tho I love slipknot I only like the first 2 albums] my reasons: Korn basically created nu metal, limp bizkit is the face of nu metal, linkin park has the sound and popularity, and soad is iconic. plz discuss ur feelings below

Probably right.

It HAS to be Korn and Limp Bizkit.

SOAD is interesting because they aren't really 'nu metal', they are kind of their own unique thing but they existed through the period so are always heavily linked.

Personally I never got into Linkin Park, its just not my thing.

Lots of bands where iconic at the time for maybe just 1 song like Papa Roach (last resort) or Drowning Pool (bodies) etc...

I see a lot of new 'nu metal' inspired artists are inspired by Marilyn Manson too, another strong player of the time but not very 'nu metal' in itself.

Big 4 of nu metal would have to be Korn, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, and Deftones. I know many people might debate me about Linkin Park but here's the thing. I love Linkin Park, don't get me wrong, but they came out a bit late. Nu Metal was really big in the late 90's - early 2000's and Linkin Park's debut album came out in October 24, 2000 and didn't get really big until 2001 which is around the second half of the nu metal population which is pretty late. And System of a Down is barely nu metal. A few of their songs do have nu metal elements but not a lot.

I agree, but believe deftones should be there too, before you come at me lemme explain. deftones and Korn were basically hand in hand back in 95-98. they also were gonna tour together on the all in the family tour. what I'm trying to say is deftones is what got a lot of people into nu-metal and I hear about them whenever the topic is brought up, so deftones has to be up there as well.
