Should I watch Haruhi??

I've been planning to watch Haruhi, but I'm actually thinking about it because there's this Endless Eight that many people say it's just sooo tiresome to watch, as it's the same episode over and over; but if I skip it, then I won't be able to understand the movie because that's part of a character's plotline... soo idk. 

Can I just skip endless eight plot? Will I be missing on anything else from the story if I do?

i really like haruhi, i think it's worth a watch. i sat through all of the endless eight and i hated it. i think if you watch the first (season 2 episode 2) and last (season 2 episode 9) episodes of the arc you'll have the gist of it and save yourself a lot of time.
