I’m sure older people who remember the old internet era might have a more nuanced take, but as for me, a teen, I do find the evolution of technology in everyday life pretty interesting. I mean, I’m not the most tech-savvy person but it’s cool that irl QR codes can be scanned, appointments and such can be done digitally/virtually, the internet is rampant and can solve a variety of problems, etc.

Though, it’s a bit annoying. Take the QR codes, for example. I have no idea why but my school loves to resort to only using those QR codes for a variety of things, including important events. While I’m fortunate enough to have a phone that can scan those codes, the occasional times that I don’t are so annoying since I have to always ask for a link or any other way I can access stuff. The codes are convenient, yes, but it’s just weird how a whole entire building hasn’t considered...adding another way to access those codes without having to rely on some random phone feature? I’m targeting a specific case here but I’ve seen many restaurants do this (in my area) as well: you’re given a QR code and have to access the menu using that. Sure, I guess using the internet is better for the environment but it’s still so weird how so many establishments kinda just...assume people have a way to scan that...? Idk, that’s just what I think.

One other annoying thing about the everyday use of modern technology is that everything is instant. If someone likes your post, you immediately get a notification on it. If you’ve ordered something from an online store before, you could automatically put in all your details and order another thing right away. If you search something up, it’s expected that the first result will immediately answer your question (even if it’s an ad or an AI response...looking at you, Google). These things aren’t inherently bad, and it’s in fact very good that, as human beings, we’ve improved technology enough to the point it’s fast and efficient (...well, depending on the situation LOL)! It’s just that now...it feels a bit overwhelming. That, or it gets really addictive. The instantaneous nature of modern technology in day-to-day life is pretty bad when it’s unregulated :/

I guess there’s pros and cons to everything ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
