Shipping news was a Kentucky band with members that were at different points in Rodan, Parlour, Dead Child, the for Carnation, and Slint. They're described as post rock/hardcore but personally I can hear some more sounds that I think would fit within this group. The band became inactive when Jason Noble died, but they have a great catalogue. This one is off of their 2005 album which is my favorite.
