Majesty Crush

Active 1990-1995

Forgotten Detroit shoegaze band that's recently gotten a bit of a revival. I'm a fan for so many reasons; dreamy sound, diversity, teen summer wistful sounding songs. Numero group did its thing, as per usual, of scraping up some forgotten gems and getting them out again. They recently released Butterflies Don't Go Away, a compilation album of the band's long lost work. The band disbanded due to label troubles along with troubles within the group. The remaining members signed their rights over to Numero Group, so we may be expecting to hear more unreleased tracks or possibly even some new tunes..

Here's their most popular, and my favorite song, No. 1 Fan (written about stalking Jodie Foster actually 0.0)

No. 1 Fan - Majesty Crush

Interesting, I thought this band was from the Detroit shoegaze scene. There were some great acts coming out of Michigan in the 90's with dream pop and the like.

Yeah! Lovesliescrushing also came from that era and location, some incredibly hazy and spacey stuff.

You're right! Loveliescrushing played a show in my city a few months ago, I think they said they've played less than 15 shows from start to now or something like that. Pretty wild but super cool sound, Scott's project Astrobrite is cool too. Michigan has some great talent

This is great! There’s something so modern about his vocals couldn’t believe it was 93. Little the cure esque but definitely more atmospheric. Also, had no idea that loveliescrushing was from michigan. Thought shoegaze was mostly uk. The more you know! Lol
