Is a churro a donut?

I absolutely consider a churro a donut. A churro is dough/batter, fried, and sugared. What other properties are needed? Don't tell me a churro isn't a donut because it isn't round - just look to Long Johns and square donuts. Doesn't have a hole? Same - maple bars and buttermilk bars don't have holes. I haven't heard a real argument that refutes my stance on churros as a donut.
