Whenever you go into the general forum on this website, most of the recent topics are advertisements for medical products, crypto, and other stuff. I don't understand why they're here or why they're targeting this site, but one thing for sure: we have a bot problem and we need to stop it.

Agreed. It's likely a lot of companies trying to get traction on any site possible. It would be considered spam, I believe.

It is spam and it does need to be reported. Now the reason I logged in for the first time in a week (I've been unwell no scream at me plz) and see all these bots piled up, I have no idea why they've been left up.

I feel like this problem is kinda similar to the gore raid some time back: Anyone is able to create an account very quickly and with little to no repercussions (since simply just banning/deleting an account doesn't stop someone from making more). While a moderator may come and clean up the bots every now and then, that kind of technique for handling spam is...not good, especially since there's not a lot of mods on this site, anyway.
Since IP bans are apparently not an option (I personally heavily disagree with SpaceHey choosing not to IP ban, especially when it comes to bigots and weirdos, but fine, whatever), maybe they should put the spam bots' links into the site's filter so the annoying posts can finally stop :p or just a temporary waiting period for new accounts :pp or make it so accounts with unverified emails can't make blogs/forums in the first place :ppp honestly, just anything that restricts new users from immediately being able to spam and post whatever they want
edit: oop didnt see that an actual mod was here LMAO I'm clarifying that this comment isn't directed at anyone in particular
