@visprixx I'd check out TheArtistBlock on youtube, helped me out alot with understanding the fundamentals when i was figuring things out. Also follow the golden rules;

1. Dont write on any religious buildings, small buisnesses, war memorials, people's personal property or anything like that

2. Dont write over anyone elses stuff, its seen as a sign of disrespect, and you never know if your painting over a tribute piece to a desceased writer.

3. Avoid using a name which is already used by someone else

4. If you are going to cover up someone elses work follow this rule:

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Pieces<Throwies<Tags

5. Dont act though lol

When it comes to letters and actually progressing id start with straights/keyboards (straight letters/the letters on your keyboard) keep your tag basic in the beginning before developing, also experiment with letter variants on your tag. To write throwies/pieces simply draw bubbles/boxes around your already existing letters (it wont look good in the start though so dont worry).

There are some important terms to graffiti too:

Toy - Abbreviation for "Tags Over You" someone who doesnt respect the rules of graffiti

Legend/King - A well known writer, a legend is usually someone who has an important place in graffiti history (Taki 183, Cope, Seen etc.) and a king is someone who is notorious in a certain city/area.

All city - Going all city means that you have covered up the majority of your city, where im from you cant walk a block without seeing an OLGA or RONS piece.

Hitting/getting up - Litteraly just means doing graffiti

Bombing - When someone commits a bombing it refers to someone hitting up a certain area and writes as much as possible

Mission - When someone has planned out how and where they are going to put up their shit and sucsessfully do so.

Chillspot - An area people go to do graffiti because there is little to no surveilance and little chance of getting caught

Heaven-spot - A life threatening/risky area to do graffiti (Sides of bridges, Sides of buildings, Billboards)

Getting booked - Getting caught

Full car - When someone's graffiti takes up an entire train car

Types of graffiti:

Tags - your signature basically lol, the simplest form of graffiti

Throwie - Somewhere between a tag and a piece, something you can just "throw up" on the wall quickly

Piece - The main form of graffiti, uses all the fundamentals, alot of varation too

Rollup - Graffiti usually done with roller paint, uses blocky letters and takes up as much area as possible

Wildstyle - A piece with just crazy amounts of details, considered one of the hardest forms of graffiti to master

Remeber that its fine to add some deatils to your tags but dont overdo it, with multiple halos, marks or arrows. Also note that getting booked can ruin your life, people loose their jobs and their entire future's over this, but again you dont have to put your work up and its totally acceptable to keep it on paper.

These are also just the basics, there is alot more like: Drop-shadows, Highlights, Can Control, and letter connections) which brings you back to the youtube channel i reccomended to you, you can also ask more experienced friends for tips. Hope this helps!
