wii u & 3ds online servers shut down today

i could've homebrewed my 3DS just so it can get internet access back but i wouldn't risk it cuz there's a big chance it can brick

i still have my 3ds, i play it quite often. i wish i could've gotten in one last game of smash and kid icarus, but we haven't had any internet here recently.

i'll miss the 3ds (the wii u less so, i never had one and it sucked tbh) but it was only a matter of time, keeping the servers up would've costed too much.

RIP Skylanders Superchargers racing servers for Wii U. You will not be missed (nobody played on them lmao)

update: i booted up my 3ds and it's kinda faulty from the age - it was used when i got it & it was in very good quality. it was my first ever console too and i had it since like 2017 or 18. i also had tomodachi life on the 3ds and i got it from a used cartridge & it still had data on there from an unknown fella.

i can see the 3ds being someone's first console, but in 2017? goodness...

but yeah, the 3ds had a lot of good games (though looking back, i think the earlier years were kind of rough, i think the only games i had on it for the longest were mario 3d land and sonic lost world). i'll always have fond memories of the 3ds being the console where i got really into rpgs; persona q, etrian odyssey untold, and bravely default were all really cool, and it was also the platform on which i played earthbound for the first time.
