Depends, but Vintage Story is a really good option.

Deep Rock Galactic is excellent, only allows 4 players per party though. It's on sale rn for $10 USD.

Project Zomboid is at its peak when played with friends. It's also on sale rn for about $14 USD.

For two players I highly recommend Portal 2, literally $1 rn.

Jackbox party packs are an excellent way to include lots of people in games, they run kinda pricey though. 

I guess it depends on the friend group, but gtaonline is my to go to. I'll also play Phantasy Star Online 2 with a few people sometimes. 

I would say Left 4 Dead 2 since is fully co-op. But I'd also recommend Gmod, TF2 and Splatoon; specially L4D2 and TF2.

if i were to give my genuinely honest opinion, i'd say zandronum or odamex. the amount of customization + modding support causes a multiplayer experience thats never been topped ever since i tried out multiplayer doom.

Team Fortress 2 WarioWare or any Source engine community gamemodes  

I know some games that a lot of people love specifically minecraft apk mod, I redownloaded it apkmodnew here there are a lot of good versions for users
