the mall emo stuff or the emocore stuff from the 80s-90s
some killer mall emo stuff:
the used, mcr (earlier stuff) , paramore, hawthorne heights, motion city soundtrack, fall out boy (earlier stuff)
personally im not into the emocore stuff but here are some examples of that:
cap'n jazz, rites of spring, sunny day real estate, embrace

im not super big on emo but I like some midwest emo/emo revival type stuff like pinback, the world is a beautiful place and I am no longer afraid to die (twiabp) (yes that's the full band name LMAO), sparta (idk if that counts as emo but it sounds like it) Jimmy eat world (their albums clarity and bleed american), and American football, also if you want to get into mcr, imo three cheers for revenge is their best album and most of their newer content sucks but foundation of decay isn't too bad it's worth a listen
