Does this exist anymore?

Ok, I have been out of the loop for SOME TIME regarding the vidja games, so this will likely be a stupid question, but hear me out.

I'm looking for some fun two-player games where you just fire up the game, plug in two controllers, choose 2-player mode, press start, and then there are a couple of little guys running around the same screen together (not split!) without having to subscribe or (sign into?) anything. just like...a normal video game (xbox preferred, but pc could work too). Does this exist?
