Forum: Reclaiming the Internet Group

Note: I'm reposting this from Tumblr!

The end of online privacy

Now, this isn't something I usually post about from my silly goofy k1nk account (reminder to minors to not follow or scroll this acount).

But I have more followers on here than main, and this is extremely important. Like, scary shit.

This applies to everyone. If you're reading this? It's going to effect you.

I'm sure perhaps some of you have seen around about a this thing going around... KOSA, is one of the ways it's being referred to.

If this shit passes, lemme tell you...

  • LGBTQ+ adults and minors seeking help and community,
  • people looking for abortions,
  • people organizing protests,
  • anyone using their free speech to voice concerns about injustices,
  • even FAN ARTISTS...
  • Even people reading fan fiction...
  • And for the purposes of where I'm posting from... people sharing and enjoying their k1nks, wanting to post things with safety and privacy... smut artists and writers, people even LOOKING for smut...

It's all gone. No privacy.

They'll have your face, your name, your age, where you live.

You'll need an ID to use any US-based platform, even if you're NOT in the United States.

Instead of dooming, here's what you can do to stop this shit in it's tracks 👍

Here is a website where you can sign a letter just by filling out a form, (it takes less than 30 seconds)and where you can call reps.

I HIGHLY suggest leaving calls if you're able, and if you have phone shyness, do this after 6pm, since it will leave messages instead.

I'm shy, but I did it!

Share all of this with as many people as you can. Our safety, freedom, joy, and protection online is at risk more than ever.

STAY SAFE!

I think they just want an ID for everyone for everything you do, tied to your web activity, your financial transactions, everything, like the social credit system they have in China.

Maybe they'll plug all the data into AI to predict what you're likely to do in real life.  We're really not very far off of a Minority Report type of situation.  And I wonder about those stories in the USA of people being told that they'll only be prosecuted for shoplifting if they steal more than $1,000 worth of goods.  Was that allowed so they could gather data on who was likely to shoplift for the sake of pre-crime?  I have to wonder.

The point is they're coming for us all and they'll use 'think of the children' to try to sell it to Joe Public, but anyone who's honest with themselves should really see through that and where that road eventually leads.  The world will never be safe enough and there will always be an excuse to watch you and limit your actions.

It also seems that right now governments are trying to go after SSL / TLS.  Apparently they want certificates built into the browser where they are a 'trusted authority', which would mean that all encrypted web traffic would be transparent to governments, and they want to make it illegal to bypass these measures.  I have to catch up on Rob Braxman on YouTube, he's been talking about this stuff a lot recently.

It's not too difficult to imagine a time in the future where the best option may be to walk away from using the internet entirely, or at the very least the clear web, and the more you build your life around 'needing the internet' the more difficult it will be to walk away from it.  That goes for real life businesses which demand that you use a phone for tickets, payment, to see a menu or anything like that.

Having said all that, I don't want to sound like I'm discouraging anyone from taking action they feel will stop all this nonsense.

I expected this thread to get far more engagement than it has so far!  Why so little interest?

Yea I agree with you, all of this connecting and intertwining accounts to a real body is dystopian. And for the government to basically dictate the Internet is frankly just,, a bad idea as a whole. They're using the excuse of protecting children to defend that fact that they want everyone to connect their accounts to their social security number. No privacy at all! The measures of how a kid should go about the Internet should be decided by their parents, this is just bad people taking advantage of lacking parents.

I was hoping to just spread the word with this thread, since it is very concerning for, well, everyone
