What are some flaws in games that made you enjoy said games more overall?

My favourite example of this is probably the Thief games and their purposefully sloppy combat - since stealth is the focus of the gameplay, I think the poor combat system works very well: it's finicky, awkward, dangerous, unrewarding, it isn't fun, and generally isn't worthwhile.

Through this, it automatically becomes an undesirable last resort, and reinforces the Thief games' philosophy that a skilled player should be able to overcome challenges and sticky situations through stealth and their wits, never needing to resort to brute force. Players who fall below this skill threshold and find themselves in situations where they must fight are quickly taught through the clunky combat system that this is something undesirable. The game understands that people will inevitably fall below the skill threshold at first, and teaches them that making mistakes is okay, while simultaneously becoming an incentive for players to sharpen their wits and focus on the stealth aspects of the game, because that's more fun. All in all, its deliberately poor design teaches good habits by encouraging players to play the game the way it was meant to be played, while still being fair on people who are still in the learning process.

That being said, I can't think of many similar instances to this. I think the only other ones that come to mind are the way games like Silent Hill had awkward combat to establish a sense of vulnerability and subpar voice acting that unintentionally gave the game and its characters this surreal feeling of dreaminess, detachment and isolation, almost feeling as though they didn't really exist. I've seen a few other games employ this tactic, such as Dark Souls and some creepy edutainment games I played as a kid, but that's about it.

Anyway, if anybody has any other good examples I'd love to hear them. It's quite a fascinating subject in my eyes.
