Grade - the start of "mall-emo"

If you haven't heard already, the mall-emo sound stems from two bands, those being "KeepSake" and "Grade" though I think Grade edges out KS by a small margin.  Anyways I've gotten really into Grade over the past few months, all their stuff is amazing and has that Hawthrone Heights/ Silverstein/ Dear Whoever sound despite being from the 90s!  Overall its an amazing blend of pop-punk and post-Portrait screamo.  Also would like to mention their sister band, Somehow Hollow which is another early mall-emo band with a heart-on-sleeve.  These guys deserve more credit and more listeners and I don't wanna gatekeep them so spread the word!

Great post! Both are good bands, I think Keepsake is my favorite of the two just for that first record alone.

The first Keepsake record "The Things I Would Say" is crazy good, they started out more rooted in emocore with like a little bit of early Cave In, the stuff after is definitely more in that sort of pop-punky Jimmy Eat World sphere. I think in the beginning they shared a vocalist with Poison The Well too.
