Any tips to learn to tease my hair correctly ?

Hi, I'm a baby bat and I will soon be able to do a deathhawk (sort of, just without the hair strands right above the ears. Idon't know if I can still call it a deathhawk or not then).

I have very thick hair who handled few bleaching sessions in the past couple years very well, I think they are strong enough to go trough teasing it, I'm not sure since I've never done it before. But my hair being thick is also the inconvenient of it being really heavy, so I'm worried they will not stay in a deathhawk shape.

  • How do I tease properly all those layers of thick hair ?
  • Should I buy special brushes/products for it ?
  • Anything I should do or avoid to do in particular ?
  • How do I correctly treat my hair afterward ?
  • Do you have a vague idea of how long I should let my hair rest between 2 teasing ?
  • Is teasing bleached hair safe ? (I might dye my hair red in a couple of months)

Thanks !

Also!! To avoid as much damage as possible try using setting powder instead of hairspray, as someone who's hair got weakened by all the products setting powder is the least damaging!!!

(Also I use the "Big Powder Play" by Sexy hair and I highly recommend!"

as a thick haired goth, it's just impossibe for me, so i guess a lot of product. But i'd suggest to get a wig and do it, because it can damage your hair extremley.

It all depends on your own hair really but step one is to just use a teasing comb, backcomb it and see if it works out.

A lot of it is in your own technique and motorskills.

No amount of reading about it will give you that skillset.  Gotta start wrecking your own hair.

I cannot speak for your own hair, but my hair, I dyed it relentlessly, all the time.

I also crimped it before teasing half the time.  Used a ton of FreezeIt spray, and Aquanet 3 in light, friendly bursts with a final smokescreen when you're all done...

I never had massively damaged/broken hair. I believe what helped me there was daily use of conditioner.

But that was my hair not yours.  YMMV.  A friend bleached her hair once, at a salon, teased / sprayed it a few times, and it was breaking constantly.

meanwhile my basement bleach jobs were outlasting her.  I swear part of it is that I have finer hair that gets oily easier. Get that crusty barrier lol.

One tip that I have that seemed to work for me is, rather than using a teasing comb, I often used an anti static roller brush with the plastic bristles like these:

Something about how you could get it wrapped around and poofed up really seemed to work great.
